Wedding Catering for Scott and Fiona in Wentworth, Barnsley

Scott and Fiona’s wedding took place in Wentworth, near Barnsley, and from early on they had a clear idea of the kind of food they wanted. The focus was on serving something that felt well put together, with a bit more thought behind it than a standard wedding menu. We were asked to provide canapés during the drinks reception, followed by a BBQ package for the main food.

The Event

The wedding itself was held in Wentworth, with guests arriving and settling in as the day got going. It was important that the catering fitted in without slowing things down.

We arrived early, got set up and started preparing ahead of time, so everything was ready once guests began to arrive.

The Menu

Canapés were served as people arrived, which worked well alongside drinks and gave everyone something to enjoy straight away.

For the main food, Scott and Fiona chose a BBQ package, but with a menu that had a bit more to it than usual.

The soy and honey glazed salmon worked particularly well on the grill and was one of the more popular choices. Alongside that, we served vegetable and halloumi skewers, as well as miso and maple roasted aubergine.

The Service

The food was set up as a buffet, with our waiting staff there to serve and keep things moving.

That made it easier for guests, as everything was clear and there was no need to queue for long. Plates were served steadily, and dishes were topped up as needed so nothing ran out or sat too long.

It also meant the food could be presented properly throughout service.

The Day

You could smell the BBQ as it got going, which tends to draw people over without much encouragement. The salmon in particular caught people’s attention once it started coming off the grill, and it didn’t take long before guests began making their way over.

There was a good feel around the food, people chatting, plates in hand, going back up once they’d had a first taste of everything.

From our side, it all came together as expected and suited the day well. Scott and Fiona were a lovely couple to work with, and it was good to see everything come together in the way they’d hoped.
